CCU Develops Technology of Ballscrew Preload Monitoring, First Exhibited in Japan International Machine Tool Fair

Advanced Institute of Manufacturing with High-Tech Innovations of CCU headed to Japan to take part in the 27th Japan International Machine Tool Fair under the leadership of director of the center Zheng Youren. The exhibition were from Germany, the United States, Taiwan and other 25 countries participating, including 644 vendors. CCU team exhibited the technology of Ballscrew Preload Monitoring, showing the achievements CCU has in the precision machinery technology research in recent years. During the fair, the CCU team also visited the Technical Research Centre of the University of Tokyo, Japan, as well as Yamazaki Mazak and Mitsubishi Electronics in Japan, hoping to seek opportunities for cooperation.

The 27th Japan International Machine Tool Fair, (referred JIMTOF) recently ended at the Tokyo International Exhibition Center, the theme of "manufacturing technology and the global popularity of Japanese heritage" (Fusion of craftsmanship and advanced technology "Mono- Zukuri DNA "-connects to the Future and the World). It attracted a total of 644 exhibitors from Germany, the United States, Taiwan and other 25 countries, displaying the world's most advanced machine tools and precision measurement technology, with the Advanced Institute of Manufacturing with High-Tech Innovations of CCU displaying the Ballscrew Preload Monitoring Technique for the first time at the venue.

Through the program of industry-university cooperation, The Ballscrew Preload Monitoring Technique has been transferred to Hiwin Technologies Corp. Professor Zheng Zhijun of Department of Mechanical Engineering, National Chung Cheng University said the technology can economically and effectively detect the presence or absence of ballscrew preload and ensure the accuracy of the production equipment, mainly used in the Feed-drive System for precise positioning, such as general machine tools, automobile manufacturing, aerospace manufacturing, semiconductor manufacturing, etc.

CCU stated that the current three-year school academic project of the center has access to government funding for research, and the industry-university cooperation program with Hiwin Technologies Corp. has just begun their third year. This trip to Japanto take part in the exhibition is led by Vice President of CCU and Director of the center Zheng Youren, as well as partly subsidized by the Ministry of Economy of Hiwin Technologies Corp. In addition, team members visited the Technical Research Centre of production in the University of Tokyo, finding business possibilities for future cooperation. They also went to Yamazaki Mazak and Mitsubishi Electronics to understand the current trends of new technologies.

In 2011 Advanced Institute of Manufacturing with High-Tech Innovations of CCU was established under the financial support of Ministry of Education's top universities project , mainly to research on green energy and intelligent manufacturing systems to develop core technology for industrial applications. The institute is located at the center of the West Bank industrial corridor, between Taichung Precision Machinery Park and Kaohsiung's heavy industry center. Director Zheng Youren said that the center, through domestic and international long-term research program, industry-academia cooperation, student exchange programs and travel, etc., has dedicated to the development, application of their research results, hoping the institute to foster elites, and becoming an international convergence platform .
