Having gotten grant of 50 million NT dollars from the second period of Aim for the Top University Plan, CCU recently had once again been certified by the mid-term examination of Program for Promoting Teaching Excellence Universities of Ministry of Education, receiving grant of 50 million NT dollars. Office of Teaching Excellent Project points out that CCU has been continually getting grants from the Program for Promoting Teaching Excellence Universities of Ministry of Education for 9 years and accepts the highest grant of all national universities in this program.
In order to help universities in Taiwan to increase their quality of teaching and develop their own academic features, the Ministry of Education started to promote Program for Promoting Teaching Excellence Universities since 2005. The former two periods of the program emphasized on building the institution, evaluating the results. As for the third period of the program, bridging the gap between campus and workplace in students’ preparation for their future employment is concerned the most.
The office of Teaching Excellent Project of CCU said that owing to the help of the grant from the first and second period of Program for Promoting Teaching Excellence Universities, CCU has made progress in developing foreign language curriculum, CCU Elite Plan, TEAL teaching program, teaching resources, digital curriculum, etc.
The office also pointed out that CCU would use “Excellent CCU 168” as the main subject in the third program. Based on this program, they used the references from "National Suggestions of Social and Economic Personnel Training", and summarized four major industrial items which have prospect and economic power in the following five to ten years, including cloud computing application, digital culture creation industry, business management and technology integration. The office will also evaluate the five major ability which professional personnel should equipped with, including innovative thinking, global perspective, team-work, problem-solving and communication skills.
In addition, the office of Teaching Excellent Project of CCU indicated that the thorough 2013-2014 program takes “Multiple Interdisciplinary Learning Integration” and “Seeking for Next Steven Jobs—Nurturing Aesthetic and Design Ability through Cloud Technique” as pioneering projects, combing other assistant projects, such as “teaching quality enhancement”, “citizenship literacy”, “vocation literacy “and “international competitiveness”. Through this six sub-item program, CCU hopes to reach the ultimate goal to enhance the cultivating process of students and minimizing the gap between the school theory and real practice.
The office also said that with the assistance of the third period of the program, CCU will constantly make progress on student performance, teaching quality, resources, equipment and training talented people, cultivating more cross-fields, visionary and highly transnational-mobility people who are competent to promote Taiwan to the globe and polish the reputation of CCU.
